PS Kenya Participates at the Africa Health Business Symposium Event 2022

Advancing Women’s Health in Kenya

In Kenya, and Africa at large, women play a critical role within their families. They are life givers, mothers, peacemakers, business owners, and caregivers for children and the elderly. However, they bear a disproportionately large share of the global disease of burden and death. They are more likely to die from communicable diseases like Malaria, HIV, and Tuberculosis, Maternal and Perinatal conditions, and nutritional deficiencies.

PS Kenya sought to demonstrate how its programs are addressing health challenges facing women, particularly those in underserved and difficult-to-reach counties in Kenya (West Pokot, Elgeyo Marakwet, Homabay, Kajiado, Kwale, Samburu, Garissa, Mandera, Marsabit, Baringo, Kilifi, and Narok) during the first series of Africa Health Business Symposium events held in Nairobi, Kenya on February 24, 2022. The theme of the symposium was “The Role of the Private Sector in Advancing Women’s Health in Africa.” The conference attracted over 960 delegates from at least 80 organizations and 61 countries (AHBS).

For over 31 years, PS Kenya has measurably improved the health of Kenyans by supporting the Ministry of Health (MoH) address public health priorities in HIV/TB, malaria, reproductive health, maternal health, child health, water and sanitation, nutrition, and non-communicable diseases. We have succeeded in promoting adoption and maintenance of health behaviors and in increasing access to and demand for high-quality health products and services. On gender equality, PS Kenya’s Accelerate program is accelerating the realization of true universal access to quality sexual and reproductive health services (SRHR), prevention and management of gender-based violence (GBV), and a reduction in harmful traditional practices (HTPs). HB Events
The Africa Health Business Symposium (AHBS) is a pan-African conference that sits at the heart of the African healthcare scene. Via AHBS, AHB has set the pace towards constructive working relationships between the public and private sector, creating a more enabling environment for the private health sector on the African continent.
