In Kenya, only 32% of the population has access to improved sanitation. The World Bank Water and Sanitation Program (WSP) and International Finance Corporation are jointly supporting the Ministry of Health to increase uptake of improved sanitation facilities at scale.
At Phase 1 of the project, PS Kenya supported the MoH in the development of National Improved Sanitation Behavior Change Communication Campaign – “Epuka Aibu Ndogo Ndogo, Choo Changu,Heshima Kwangu!” in an effort to create demand for improved sanitation amongst target populations, as well as support local manufacturers in the development of marketing, sales and distribution strategies for new house hold products.
In Phase 2, WSP is funding a pilot of the campaign in Nakuru, Kisumu,Nyeri and Busia counties. The execution is through local radio and experiential interpersonal communication activities in the community.
