Before joining the WellBeing Youth Enterprise Movement, Baraka often found himself with few opportunities to learn new skills or build a pathway toward employment. Growing up in a low-income informal settlement, he faced the same challenges as many young people: limited access to training, scarce job opportunities, and an environment where negative influences were all too common.
Today, Baraka’s story is taking a different direction.
At the WellBeing Centre, he is learning tailoring and garment production skills while building the confidence to pursue a brighter future. He is also gaining entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and digital skills that will help him manage money, connect with customers, and work toward earning a sustainable income.
For Baraka, the Centre is more than a training programme. It is a place where he has found purpose, support, and the opportunity to believe in his potential.
His journey is also helping to challenge stereotypes about what young men and women can achieve. At the WellBeing Centre, opportunities are not defined by gender. They are shaped by ambition, determination, and a willingness to learn.
Baraka is still at the beginning of his journey, but he now wakes up with a sense of direction and hope for the future.
His story reminds us that when young people are given the right opportunity, they can transform their lives and build brighter futures for themselves, their families, and their communities.
